Mission Trip: Honduras

Later this summer, Daniel and I are going on a week-long mission trip to Honduras. We're going with a small group from our church to work and serve alongside missionaries Ron & Shelley Jones. They began Hope for Honduras to serve the people living in poverty above the capital city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

For Daniel and myself, this our first mission trip. For me, this is my first time out of the US. It is also the longest time we've left Aidan overnight (previously only a couple of nights several years ago) and the first we've not been with Corey or Olivia overnight. Our children will be well cared for (and probably spoiled) by Grandma & Papa while we're away, but I am still not looking forward to leaving them for so many days. Despite all this, we are both very excited about being able to go to Honduras and help serve these people.

Some have asked how they can help or what we need for our trip. Here's a short list of ways you can help or contribute:

  • Prayer - pray for our trip and safety, for our children, that God will use us to be his hands and feet, etc. There will be a scheduled prayer meeting in July at our church that will allow our local friends/family to come pray with us about the mission trip. However, even if you live far away from us, our group would love your prayers.
  • Our group is taking medical supplies to Honduras. We have a list of supplies and medicines we need. Many are over-the-counter and easy to obtain. Ask us if you're interested in buying the medical supplies and we can provide you a list of what's needed.
  • Another way to help with the medical supplies is to donate money so that the supplies can be bought. A woman going with us to Honduras works at a pharmacy. She's been told she can purchase medicine and supplies at cost which would allow us to buy more and pay less.
