It was my first time visiting the state of Colorado. It was amazing to see the mountains and forests that God has created. It was utterly beautiful and I was often awestruck while our family was hiking. Our kids got to enjoy an alpine swing, bowling, rock wall climbing, hiking, hanging log pillow fights, horseback riding, water slides and swimming.
The best part about camp, though, came in the form of the other families and campers present. Each family was either a foster family or an adoptive family or a blend of both. Spending a week with other fellow parents who had heard God's call to care for the orphans was very inspiring. We enjoyed meeting parents and people who have sacrificed their own conveniences like time/money to try to make a difference in a life of a child. Families that have stepped out of their personal comfort zone to parent a child who needed a new home. Some had 2-3 kids, some had 4+, some had 7+. At this camp it did not matter.
Kids of all backgrounds and races.
Kids of different ages. Some joined their families as babies, some as kids, some as teens.
All loved by their present families.
All loved and cherished by God.
All are a blessing.
Driving to camp, excited we made it to Colorado!
We made sure to hit up one of our favorite restaurants from Houston, only this one is in Colorado Springs. It was just as delicious as remembered.
Our cabin at the camp.
The horse stables. Each of the bigger kids got to ride.
Our family on a hike.
Beautiful view from a hike.
Daniel (with Isabella on back) and I while hiking.
Mountains plus wildflowers plus four cute kids equals an amazing photo ;)
